Elzo Durt isn’t a musician but his work vibrates like that of a DJ’s, he’s a genius at mixing pop art with surrealism and psychedelic art of the swinging 60’s and 70’s.
This guy is pretty much the king of computer collages ; he spends his time feeding database into his image bank, then cuts, glues, scans, cuts again, sticks together, adds colors, a style, a soul, detail after detail ...
Personally, he reminds me a bit of the professor Choron and has definately earned his place in the Harakiri team. His work is full of colours, each one more vivid than the last, a rendering process that he achieves thanks to a « silk-screen » process (varnish printing). Elzo examines the relationship between life and death with a surrealist eye that is both comical and a little obscene, which is probably the reason why his art brands us like a hot iron.
